Once a student, always part of it
Alumni
Your FIRST® journey does not end when the season does.
Wherever you go next, there is a way to stay in it.
Most of what a season teaches you turns out to be portable. The deadline that does not move, the thing that worked on the bench and not on the field, the business letter to a company you had never met, the handing over of a robot to next year’s driver. That is the part that follows you out.
FIRST Texas keeps a door open for the people who have been through it — to come back as a mentor or a judge, to find the next scholarship, or just to know where everyone went. Here is what there is.
Three places to start
- FIRST Alumni GroupsWhether you stay in Texas or go a long way from it, there is a group waiting. The official FIRST Alumni Groups offer support, opportunities and people who did the same thing you did — wherever you end up.Find a group
- Careers & scholarshipsEvery path from school to work is a different shape. FIRST keeps a standing set of resources for each stage of it — scholarships, internships, mentorship and the employers who look for people with this on their CV.Explore resources
- The Alumni HandbookHow to say what you did here in a way colleges and employers understand — and how to keep a hand in once you have. A PDF from FIRST, worth the twenty minutes.Read the handbook
The Texas alumni Discord
The hub: volunteering that needs filling, scholarships worth knowing about before they close, job postings, and the people you competed against. It is the quickest way back in, and the easiest one to keep.
More from FIRST
- Scholarship programThe FIRST Scholarship portal lists what is open, who may apply and when it closes.
- FIRST Signing DayHow to mark the end of a graduating student's season the way a sports signing is marked.
- Industry certificationsStackable certifications in engineering, manufacturing and computer science, built on what you already know.
Alumni gatherings happen around the championships and the state events. They are announced on the events calendar and in the newsletter — the signup is in the footer of every page.
The people who did this before you
The archive has 1 alumni story in it — people describing, in their own words, where a season in Texas actually led. They were written years apart, by people who had no idea they were writing a history page.
Continue the tradition
Every event in Texas runs on volunteers, and a great many of them competed first. Judging, refereeing, queuing, inspecting — a day of it is the single most useful thing an alum can give, and the students notice who used to be one of them.
