BIOCORE™ presented by Haas
Each January brings a new challenge for FIRST® Robotics Competition (ages 14-18 / grades 9-12) teams. Starting with a Kit of Parts, they design, program, and build industrial-sized robots to play an action-packed game as part of a three-team alliance. In 360-degree learning guided by mentors, students learn engineering and problem-solving skills as they compete for awards, hone teamwork skills, raise funds to meet team goals, and advance appreciation for STEM in their community. On January 9, 2027, FIRST Robotics Competition teams will delve into the heart of what sustains life on Earth in the BIOCORE™ presented by Haas season game.

Registration & Key Deadlines
Sept 24 to Nov 17: Kit & Kickoff Registration. Select your Kickoff location and make your Drive Base & Black Tote opt-out selections.
Sept 24 to Oct 1: First Event Registration, Round 1 Preference. All rookie and veteran teams preference their first District or Regional Event.
Oct 2: First Late Registration opens.
Oct 15 to Oct 22: Second Event Registration, Round 2 Preference. Teams preference their second District or Regional Event.
Oct 23: Second Late Registration opens.
Oct 29: Award applications open. Unrestricted Regional and Additional In-District Event Registration also opens.
Oct 30: FRC Volunteer Registration opens.
Nov 5: Additional Inter-District Event Registration opens.
Nov 12: Pre-Kickoff Virtual Kit Release.
Nov 17: Hard Deadline Day. Kit & Kickoff Registration and all District and Regional event registration close at 12:00 PM ET. Drive Base & Black Tote opt-outs close, and payment for initial event registration is due by 5:00 PM ET.
Jan 21, 2027: Payment is due by 5:00 PM ET for additional registered events.

Kickoff Events: Saturday, January 9, 2027
When you complete Kit and Kickoff Registration, you'll choose a kickoff location and make your Kit of Parts tote selection. Veteran teams miss this step every year, so read the options carefully before submitting.

The season calendar is determined by venue availability, location, event experience, accessibility to teams, and in-kind donations provided by the venue organization. Farmersville District Event (April 1 - 3, 2027)

San Antonio District Event (April 9 -11, 2027)
Space City #2 District Event (April 9 -11, 2027)
Week 7:
UIL State/District Championship (April 14 - 17, 2027) at NRG Arena in Houston
FIRST Championship: April 28 - May 1, 2027 | George R. Brown Convention Center, Houston
Note: FIRST Championship is downtown, a different venue from the District Championship at NRG Arena.
Submittable Awards
All submittable awards for the 2027 season open on October 29, 2026 at 12:00 PM Eastern. Each has its own deadline, so plan backward from the earliest one:
FIRST Impact Award: due February 11, 2027 at 3:00 PM Eastern
FIRST Leadership Award (formerly Dean's List Award): due February 4, 2027 at 3:00 PM Eastern
Woodie Flowers Award: due February 4, 2027 at 3:00 PM Eastern
